Checkups & Cleanings
The basic foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles is actually very simple. You need to keep your regular six month checkups and teeth cleanings with the Cherry Dental and PCH Dental team. During these regular visits, we screen for early warning signs of common oral health conditions including tooth decay, gum disease, teeth grinding and clenching known as bruxism, strained or damaged jaw joints, and oral cancer. Following our thorough examination, one of our skilled hygienists will clean the plaque and tartar buildup from even the most difficult to access parts of smiles. We use diagnostic technologies like digital x-rays and intraoral photography to make sure you fully understand your health concerns and potential treatment options. We can indicate decay or damage in photos or x-rays, and walk you through the pros and cons of your treatment options. Once we determine which treatments are necessary, we work in partnership with patients to develop a treatment plan that meets their needs, budget, and schedule.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are a fast, simple solution to preventing tooth decay. Patients who experience frequent tooth decay or who are at higher risk for tooth decay, may be advised to have dental sealants placed. Sealants can be quickly and painlessly applied during any six month checkup, and they can last for years with proper care. We simply need to paint the liquid sealant onto the surfaces of teeth and harden it with a curing light.
Nightguards for Bruxism
Teeth grinding and clenching, a condition known as bruxism, is a chronic oral health issue that has a variety of causes. Many people think this is simply a harmless bad habit, but left untreated, bruxism may lead to a number of adverse health effects including chips, cracks, and dental wear. We craft customized nightguards to place a physical barrier between the rows of teeth to prevent damage. We’ll use impressions of your bite to make nightguards that fit your unique smile.
Mouthguards/Sportsguards
We recommend any patient who engages in sporting events where their smile may come in contact with other players, hard surfaces, or equipment to wear a mouthguard every time they practice or engage in this athletic event. We offer comfortable and effective custom crafted sportsguards that won’t gag wearers or impede breathing. We recommend patients wear these guards during high contact sports like hockey, football, and rugby, but it’s also advisable that patients use mouthguards when swimming, biking, and engaging in other minimal contact sports where smiles may come in contact with hard surfaces.
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer claims one life every hour on average in the use, and more than 50% of those diagnosed with oral cancer do not live five years beyond their diagnosis. With startling numbers like these, it’s no surprise that early diagnosis and intervention is essential for those patients suffering from oral cancer. We conduct screenings for oral cancer as part of every six month checkup at Cherry Dental. We visually examine the oral and facial structures, and tactilely explore any lumps, bumps, or areas of concern. The process is quick and completely painless.
Fluoride Treatment
Improving your smile health and reducing risk for cavities can be achieved with one fast, painless treatment option, topical fluoride treatments. We often recommend professional fluoride treatments for young patients, but this solution is beneficial for any patient who experiences frequent tooth decay. If the fluoride in your toothpaste or mouth rinse is inadequate in keeping your tooth enamel strong and healthy, we can apply higher doses of fluoride as part of your six month dental checkups. We simply paint the fluoride treatment on and allow it to dry. Then, patients need to wait thirty minutes before eating or drinking.
Children’s Dentistry
We are happy to see patients of all ages, and our dentists and team members have years of experience working with young children. We welcome you to bring the whole family to our office for dental care that will build strong, lasting smiles. We offer a variety of treatments specifically geared toward children such as dental sealants and fluoride treatments, but our main priority is to help your child establish positive associations with dental visits.
